State Of  The Map 2010

Helaas weinig nieuws van onze Nederlandse delegatie uit het sotm kamp dit jaar, zeker te druk aan de sangria/netwerken 😉 Streams van de Chamberroom waren te volgen via ustream. Er zijn ook opnames gemaakt van alle sessies en deze zullen we de komende tijd wel online zien komen via vimeo.

Mapquest (AOL) goes osm

Mapquest gaat osm data gebruiken en stopt er 1 miljoen dollar in om de USA data op orde te krijgen. Er staat een betakaartje online op http://open.mapquest.co.uk/

ArcGIS osm editor plugin [OSM-talk]

In ArcGIS kun je sinds kort ook OpenStreetMap data bewerken dmv een plugin.

Wegwijzers en paddestoelen (@Forum)

Het mappen van anwb paddestoelen werd besproken op het NL forum.

Waar zouden we zijn zonder AND (@OSM-talk-nl)

Lennard en Roeland zijn bezig met het voorbereiden van een AND opschoon actie.
Het gaat hier om incorrect geimporteerde secondary en tertiary wegen. Een preview van de wijzigingen is te zien op http://mijndev.openstreetmap.nl/~ldp/AND-reclassified/

Potlatch 2.0 en MapCSS

Potlatch 2 and its renderer Halcyon introduced a simple stylesheet description language, MapCSS, which developers from several other projects have happily expressed interest in supporting – indeed, there’s already two other implementations in existence.

To co-ordinate development, and provide a forum for those making MapCSS stylesheets, we now have a mailing list:

Usual discussion that these tags mean different things in different countries.

Aerodrome classification (tagging@)

Currently all airports, airfields and heliports are just tagged with aeroway=aerodrome and we can an extra tag to discern between international airports and small airstrips. But what should be the basis for this classification? Some want to use numbers like the amount of air movements,
other want a more subjective approach. And then there’s the question of which
tag to use (aeroway=airstrip, aeroway=small, importance=3…)
